The research aimed to analyze the role of flexible manufacturing system in improving operational efficiency in the Iraqi Cement Company/Kirkuk Cement factory. The research relied on the descriptive analytical approach, where a questionnaire was used as a tool to collect data distributed to a random sample of 60 individuals from the workers in Kirkuk Cement Plant. The data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS V25). The results of the analysis showed a statistically significant correlation between flexible manufacturing system and operational efficiency, as well as a positive impact relationship between flexible manufacturing system and operational efficiency in the researched factory. The research recommended generalizing the application of flexible manufacturing system to all production lines, training technical personnel on modern manufacturing techniques, and conducting similar studies in other industrial sectors.

Issue 9

Volume 9

Studies have shown that the progress and success of companies are achieved through their ability to improve energy performance and preserve the environment. It would translate to environmentally friendly products. However, there is a paucity of studies regarding the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 50001 and its role in enhancing environmentally friendly products in developing countries such as Iraq. This study investigates the correlation between ISO 50001 standards and green productivity among Baiji's refinery workers in Iraq. Utilising a structured questionnaire, data from 128 respondents were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results indicate a significant positive correlation between ISO 50001 and green productivity, underscoring the importance of energy management training in enhancing productivity and environmental protection. As part of the study’s implications, it suggests increasing the company’s management’s attention to training in energy management and green productivity. Its positive impact on improving productivity and protecting the environment through continuous improvement of inputs, processes, outputs, and feedback to the company cannot be overstated. Keywords: ISO 50001; green productivity; Iraq; productivity improvement; environmental protection

Studies have shown that material requirements planning systems are critical to organisations’ performance and the balance of sustainability. It would translate to schedule production and deliver the right environmentally friendly products. However, there is a paucity of studies regarding material requirements planning systems and their role in enhancing environmentally friendly products in developing countries such as Iraq. This study appraises the correlation between the material requirements planning system and sustainability development to enhance efficiency in North Oil Company, Iraq. To address the study’s objectives, the researchers developed a hypothetical scheme to express the assumed relationship between the research variables and hypotheses tested. The study adopted a questionnaire survey for the data collection and 40 questionnaires retrieved as suitable from the North Oil Company’s employees in Iraq. The collected data were subjected to descriptive and inferential statistics. The research shows a significant correlation between material requirements planning systems and sustainability development. As part of the study’s implications, it suggests increasing the attention to all ways to enhance sustainable development in the researched company. It implies that improving efficiency and protecting the environment through unceasing improvement of processes and feedback to the organisation cannot be exaggerated.

The study's objective is to ascertain the proportion of implemented green productivity standards, identify implemented green productivity standards, and identify deficiencies in Al-Sumoud Baiji Refinery's dedication to enhancing productivity and safeguarding the environment in crude oil refining. The data was gathered via on-site visits to businesses, direct observation of work activities, and personal interviews conducted with engineers, chemists, and administrative personnel. The primary results suggest that the Al-Sumoud Baiji Refinery has demonstrated a favorable inclination toward diminishing solid and gaseous waste, thereby decreasing environmental harm and decreasing environmental harm and enhancing production. The adoption of green productivity standards is commendable, with the highest level of employee participation suggesting a strong awareness among workers about minimizing pollution and industrial emissions. Refinery management offers education courses to foster this awareness. This strategy mitigates adverse environmental effects and enhances productivity in oil refining.

The company's management's interests are concerned with the critical factors of quality and operational performance, which contributes to their potential for providing quality products that meet the needs of customers and their desires while simultaneously allowing them to produce competitive products. This research sought to determine the relationship and impact between the factors critical to quality and performance operations in the Karawanchi Group of Companies in Kirkuk. Consequently, several research questions were addressed, and a general framework for the problem was defined to determine the relationship and impact between the relevant quality factors and the operational performance within the company being investigated. This study concluded a correlation and a significant effect between the determinants of critical quality factors and operational performance. Each of the determinants of quality (the processing chain, the inspection process, the cost of operations, and customer satisfaction) was associated with operational performance. The collective crucial success elements notable and constructively influence operational performance. The quality of the testing process plays a crucial role in determining the success of activities inside the organization, particularly when materials are tested and compared against standard requirements. It was recommended that the company develop standards to assess the performance of the leaders and employees and adopt a comprehensive learning, training, and development system.

DOI DOI 10.4108/eai.28-6-2020.2298157

The research aims to study the relationship between the green human resource practices and green core capabilities of Mosul University. Human resource management is taking a modern direction towards green practices, which are the main source of highly skilled workers for an organization and who provide outstanding performance when it comes to the protection of the environment. A questionnaire with a three-dimensional Likert scale was used to collect data for the research. The questionnaires were distributed to a sample of 36 employees of Mosul University. SPSS was used to analyse the data for the study. The results showed that there is a significant correlation between green human resource practices and green core capabilities. The highest impact of green human resource practices in enhancing green core capabilities comes from the practice of green recruitment in the organization.

publisher EAI

DOI DOI 10.4108/eai.28-6-2020.2297936

The current study aims at determining the successive impact of the organizational green strategies in green innovation and their impact on enhancing the sustainable competitive advantage in Karwanchi Group Kirkuk. This study has depended on both the descriptive and analytical approaches and the data were collected based on a sample of 94 workers and depending on a questionnaire prepared for this study. The statistical analysis of the data collected was conducted using SPSS. V. 24. This study ended with several important conclusions: the green organizing strategies have a direct important impact on the sustainable competitive advantage less than the rate of the indirect impact with green innovation. The new value has thus been added to enhance the sustainable competitive advantages in the studied group (company). This study ended also with several recommendations. The most important recommendation is that the higher management in the company should build green organizational strategies that support innovation.

Measuring Performance is one of the important things for managers to know the level of achieving the goals of the organization which contributes to its suitability and existence. Considering this, this paper tries to reveal the appropriate scientific measures to measure the technological changes and operations performance and to show the nature of the relationship between these two things in Karwanchi company for mineral waters and juices. To answer the questions, a set of hypotheses were set in relation to the different variables. The data were collected from the company’s records of the studied variables. The researchers then used mathematical equations to measure the technological change and the operations performance in the studied company. Moreover, they also used SPSS V.24 to measure the nature of the correlation of the variables. This study concluded that there is a negative and positive correlation between technological changes and operations performance for all dimensions which contributed to supporting the operations performance in the studied organization whether it was inverse or direct correlation. One of the most important recommendations presented here is that the company needs to decrease the time of the production cycle and to better use the production elements and also to better utilize the machinery and equipment within the time limit for the productivity in order to improve production operations.
