This research introduces a real‑time volume control system based on hand gestures, eliminating the need for physical components. The system uses a standard camera along with MediaPipe and OpenCV in Python to detect hand landmarks and analyze live video frames. By calculating finger distances, it adjusts volume with a remarkable accuracy of 97.3%, while addressing challenges of varying camera distances and ensuring only intended gestures are recognized. The proposed system demonstrates the potential of gesture‑based control to deliver a seamless and intuitive human‑computer interaction experience. A system for controlling volume using hand gestures using a camera. The objectives are: 1. Implement and set a volume control pattern. 2. Solve the distance challenge in gesture recognition.
