Volume 10
The study assessed the community's knowledge, attitude, and practices concerning solid waste management. A descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational study design was carried out to randomly select (330) heads of household citizens from Nineveh governorate – Iraq from the 2nd of July to the 29th of December 2022. The instrument used in the study was developed after reviewing many related pieces of literature, it is composed of three domains "Knowledge= 16 items Attitude= 29 nines, and Practices= 9 items". The instrument was exposed to five experts in the community health nursing field to assess its validity while it was applied to ten participants to measure its reliability "r= 0.79". The interview method depended on collecting data from the participants. High percentages of participants possessed low levels of knowledge (40%), negative attitudes (45.8%), and poor practices (49.7%) regarding MSW, and there were significantly positive linear relationships among all aspects of MSW. The community awareness (as knowledge, attitude, and practices) concerning SWM is not satisfied. Educating the community and increasing its awareness toward solid waste management by using all audio-visual means in a simplified manner that is suitable for all socio-economic groups and concentrates more and profoundly on changing society's attitudes towards solid waste management.
Vitamin D3 deficiency and coronavirus-related health problems

Volume 10
Introduction: In addition to boosting calcium absorption in the small intestine and preserving sufficient levels of calcium and phosphate in the serum to support proper bone mineralization, Vitamin D3 fortifies the immune system. Vitamin D3 deficiency can occur when regular intakes are gradually below recommended levels and when people get little sunshine exposure. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted using a case series study approach. A structured checklist was utilized on 107 individuals who had recovered from corona disease to identify the causes behind the unfavorable health effects they continue to experience. In addition, the patients underwent extensive laboratory blood testing in a specialized laboratory and received follow‑up care for a period of 6 months. The results were analyzed using the Chi‑square test and the Paired t‑test using the SPSS software. Results: Despite the finding that 84.1% of the study group had Vitamin D3 levels below the normal range, their physical health conditions had considerably improved as a result of the treatment they received. Conclusion: The study found that patients with coronavirus infection had a high prevalence of Vitamin D3 deficiency. After 6 months, this percentage dropped considerably, raising the possibility that the coronavirus may have contributed to the drop in plasma Vitamin D3 levels. To find out how long‑lasting COVID‑19 symptoms are related to Vitamin D3 deficiency, more research is required. The following core competencies are addressed in this article: Medical knowledge, Patient care and procedural skills.

Abstract Purpose: The study aimed to explore knowledge regarding the adverse expected effects of sleep position during pregnancy among pregnant women and maternity nurses. Methods and Materials: The study depended on descriptive study design on (490 pregnant mothers, and 145 maternity nurses) for the period (25th September / 2020 through 3rd August / 2021). Data were collected by self-administered questionnaire exposed to the nurses, and interview method with the pregnant mothers at Al-Salam teaching hospital, Al-Khansa’a teaching hospital, and Al-Qudis health care center after reviewing by a panel of experts in related specialties. Results: The main results were lack of acquisition of knowledge among both samples (pregnant mothers and maternity nurses) 'despite the differences between them' while the educational qualification of nurses had significant differences. facilitating around 100 enzymes to perform key chemical reactions. It has a significant role in DNA synthesis, cellular proliferation, protein synthesis, tissue regeneration, and bolstering the immune system. Zinc toxicity primarily arises from the consumption of zinc supplements rather than from dietary sources. The study aimed to evaluate the side effects caused by the misuse of zinc during and after recovery from the coronavirus. Materials and Methods: A case series study design was used to carry out the study. The constructed checklist was applied to 107 patients who recovered from corona disease to determine the causes of the adverse health consequences they still suffer from after recovery, also, they underwent comprehensive laboratory tests in January 2023. Results: Nearby 50% of the study sample had zinc tests higher than the normal range, whereas they were suffering from such physical health disorders that were significantly enhanced due to management undertaken. Conclusions: The misuse of zinc tablets for a long time and in large doses caused such physical problems to be continued for a time among many patients recovering from coronavirus, and when the intake of zinc tablets and multivitamins supplements was stopped for 6 months an obvious improvement in these health symptoms occurred.

Abstract A descriptive analytical study was conducted through out the period between the first of November 2005 to the first of August 2006 in order to assess the practice of the nursing staff in the Pediatric Surgery Center in AL-Khansa' Teaching Hospital in Mosul. The sample of study included all the nursing staff working in the Pediatric Surgery Center (20 nurses). After directing an open-end question to (13) professionals medical staff and nurses working in the center to address the nursing activities carried out in center wards, the most common nursing activities were selected (Dressing, Intravenous infusion, placing intravenous cannula, checking axillary temperature, and intravenous drug administration). The reliability of the observational tool was determined through the application of test-retest technique and computation of Pearson Correlation Coefficient (r=0.93), the content validity of tool is determined through a panel of experts. The finding of study indicated that (95%) of nursing staff were males, and (10%)were graduates of Nursing College, while the remaining nurses graduated equally from Secondary School and Nursing Institute. The analysis of variance of study subject showed no-significant differences according to age, marital status, training session, level of education, and work in special department. When reviewing the mean of scores of the steps for all the procedures, it showed that the basic steps of each nursing procedure which may be shared among all procedures fluctuated among excellent, acceptable and weak measures with strong tendency to weakness.

Abstract Background and objectives: Patient safety is an essential and vital component of quality nursing care. However, the nation's health care system is prone to errors, and can be detrimental to safe patient care due to basic system flaws. Studies in different parts of the world have reported nursing errors, which resulted in excess injuries and unnecessary deaths. The study aimed to assess nursing errors generally in some of daily activities through nursing work. Methods: A descriptive study was conducted between November 2, 2013 and January 30, 2014. It was implemented on a convenience sample of the nursing staff (94 nurses) working at three teaching hospitals in the Mosul city. A preliminary open-end question was directed to nurses (11) regarding errors and mistakes that can occur in daily nursing activities. Then a self-administered checklist was constructed for the study, which consisted of three main aspects: nursing administration (14 items), personal aspect and communication (9 items), and professional aspect (19 items). Each item had two options (no = 1; yes = 2). SPSS 11.5 was used to analyze data through descriptive statistics (frequency and percentage) and inferential statistics (chi-square), while P ≤ 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Majority of the nurses were in both the surgical and internal medicine wards (37.2%) and in hospital A (38.3%). Most (40.4%) of them had a tenure of 20–29 years of work. Majority of the errors were due to professional activities (84.21%) followed by management and administration aspects (64.29%) and personal aspects (77.8%). Conclusion: The study found that the role of nurses is functional and not professional, as it clearly lacks; job description, proper professional relationships, sense of belonging to the profession, sense of responsibility, adherence to professional rules at work, lack of patient care, and staying away from career development. The study recommends: emphasis on nursing documentation during daily work, nursing process in caring the patient, and emphasis on sterilization and disinfection guidelines. (Al-Salamand Al-Jamhori). Self-administered questionnaire was developed after reviewing many relatedliteratures. Validity of the tool was identified through consultation of seven experts, while reliabilitywas checked through the split-half technique to measure the internal consistency (r = 0.87).
