Arduino-Based Smart Energy Monitoring and Efficiency Analysis for Household Refrigerators: Towards Sustainable Power Management and Smart Grid Integration

In this study, we implemented a comprehensive monitoring system integrating temperature and humidity sensors to assess internal conditions of residential refrigerators. Additionally, an Arduino based power meter was employed to monitor electricity consumption, capturing data at 5-second intervals. The system recorded temperature and humidity from one sensor, alongside current, voltage, power, and energy consumption parameters. All data was systematically stored on an SD card for subsequent analysis to validate the operational performance of two residential refrigerators. Monte Carlo simulations were utilized to compare the collected data against the manufacturer’s nameplate specifications, ensuring adherence to operational standards. Analysis of the experimental monitoring data confirmed that both refrigerators operated within their specified ranges and complied with nameplate ratings. This rigorous evaluation process, supported by robust data storage and analysis methods, enhanced the accuracy and reliability of the study findings. Moreover, the developed sensing system exhibits potential for broader applications in monitoring various electrical devices, providing valuable insights into their operational status. Future advancements in these sensors could enable predictive maintenance capabilities for detecting device failures or facilitate the evolution towards smart monitoring systems, thereby improving overall efficiency and reliability.
