Since the calculation of the active and reactive power is considered an essential topic nowadays, the novel method is focused on these calculations with omitting the PLL that will decrease the complexity of the control process. To get the maximum photovoltaic (PV) output, the maximum power point tracker (MPPT) algorithm has been integrated with the proposed method. MATLAB/SIMULINK has been used to show the performance of the proposed method. The simulation outcomes verify the advantage of the novel method by improving the total harmonic distortion (THD) and the system stability regardless of load changes.

A numerical study was achieved on a new design of storage solar collector by using neural network (NN). The storage collector is a triangular face and a right triangular pyramid for the volumetric shape. It is obtained by cutting a cube from one upper corner at 45o, down to the opposite hypotenuse of the base of the cube. The numerical study was carried out using the computational fluid dynamics code (ANSYS-Fluent) software with natural convection phenomenon in the pyramid enclosure. The results show that, the temperature and velocity distributions throughout the operating period were obtained. The influence of introducing an internal partition inside the triangular storage collector was investigated. Also the optimum geometry and location for this partition were obtained. The enhancement was best at y= 0.25 m whereas the height of triangular collector was 0.5 m. The hourly system performance was evaluated for all test conditions. The performance of the NN to train a model for this work was 0.000207, while the error of the calculation was 1*10^-2 as average.

Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm (PSOA) has emerged recently as an efficient and powerful technique for the optimization of real parameters. The current study presents control scheme for electro-hydraulic actuator system which utilizes particle swarm optimization (PSO) for off-line tuning of the Fuzzy Proportional-Derivative (Fuzzy PD) controller. The gains and Membership Functions (MFs) tuned by PSOA which has been implemented depending on the performance indices: ITAE (Integral Time of Absolute Error), ISE (Integral Square of Error), and IAE (Integral Absolute of Error).

This paper presents modelling and simulation of wind turbine - electrical generation system using Matlab/Simulink software package. This system consists of wind turbine coupled with the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG). The PMSG is connecting to the load through a three-phase full wave rectifier and a buck converter. Control strategy based on Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) is presented to regulate the outputvoltage of the wind generation system irrespective of variations in the wind speed and load. The wind turbine and FLC are implemented in Matlab/Simulink based on its mathematical model of its equivalent equations. Simulation results show that the controllers can regulate the output voltage of the system under varying wind speed and load conditions. Keywords: Wind Turbine, PMSG, Rectifier, Chopper, and FLC.

This paper presents the design and practical implementation of a buck-type power converter for Photovoltaic (PV) system for energy storage application based on constant voltage Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) algorithm. A buck converter is used to regulate battery charging. The system is controlled by a Peripheral Interface Controller (PIC) 16F877A microcontroller from Microchip via sensing the solar panel voltage and generating the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal to control duty cycle of the buck converter. This type of microcontroller was chosen because it has the necessary features for the proposed design such as built-in Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC), PWM outputs, low power consumption and low cost. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and validity of the proposed system.

This paper presents a Neuro-Fuzzy approach for the D.C. servo motor, within the Model Reference Adaptive Control (MRAC) framework. To tackle the plant parameters variation, an adaptive algorithm is derived to tune a designed fuzzy controller such that the system output follows a desired output for stable reference model. The simulation result shows no oscillation in response and the time for reaching the desired position is very short with zero steady state errors. Based on the simulation results using MATLAB/SIMULINK package, it is found that the Neuro-fuzzy controller can be a viable choice for a networked control system due to its robustness against parameter uncertainty.
