A Review on Geopolymer Concrete Behaviour Under Elevated Temperature Influence
Nov 15, 2023 - Nov 17, 2023Country MALAYSIA
Location Shah Alam , Selangor
Geopolymers are considered promising, environmentally friendly, and sustainable substitutes for ordinary Portland cement (OPC). Geopolymers exhibit commendable mechanical characteristics, encompassing resistance to high temps and noteworthy environmental advantages. The current review paper focuses on geopolymer concrete (GPC) and mortar behaviour under the effect of high temps from two sides' problems and ways of improvements. The main problem considered is concrete spalling, due to fire-induced spalling that poses an essential threat to concrete structures, particularly those constructed with high-strength concrete. The current review aims to focus on the geopolymer concrete behaviour under the effect of high temp (burning issues) and consider how to reduce the effect of temps on concrete, especially geopolymer ones. Furthermore, the review focuses on the use of steel fiber as an enhancement way to improve the behaviour of geopolymer concrete under effect elevated temp.
