Ph.D. research focused on improve the power quality of the line commutated HVDC system between two countries smart active power compensation circuit. The system was designed to Eliminate power resonance, Reduce harmonics, and Correct power factor at the same time with one converter circuit. The system was analyzed and simulated in Iraq and implemented in Labs of Northumbria University, Newcastle, UK.
