The oxidation process of benzylic halides especially benzylic bromide to corresponding carbonyl compounds such as aldehydes and ketones is a worthwhile and important organic reaction in industrial and laboratory synthetic organic chemistry. In the present study, an efficient and novel method to obtain carbonyl compounds using benzyl bromide with a catalytic amount of chromium complexes in water under aerobic conditions was reported. The six types of chromium complexes were prepared via the reaction mixture of four ligands. The prepared ligands and chromium complexes were characterized using Fourier transform spectroscopy (FT-IR), elemental analysis, molar conductivity, and magnetic moment, as well as UV-Vis spectroscopy. Different benzyl bromide derivatives were selected with both electron-donating groups and electron-withdrawing groups at –ortho, -meta, and –para positions. Under the optimum conditions, the corresponding benzaldehyde derivatives were obtained in moderate to excellent yields. In addition, the biological activity of the prepared chromium complexes was checked. © 2022. Iranian Journal of Catalysis. All Rights Reserved

Synthesis of mixed metal complexes were done through reaction of two drugs such as antipyrine, or ciprofloxacin with Metronidazole to have eight complexes. Physical, chemical and antibacterial activity of new complexes were studied. These mixed ligands were further coordinating with bivalent transition metals in a metal: ligands mixture ratio 1:1. These complexes were characterized by using elemental analysis and physical properties, in addition molar conductance in DMF which showed non-electrolytic behavior. FT-IR spectra revealed absorption bands for new ligands and metal complexes that agreed with the propose structures and the electronic spectra verified that these complexes display six-coordinate octahedral geometry. Antibacterial activity showed good results. © 2022 National Information and Documentation Center.

New complexes with a mixture of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) with methyldopa or paracetamol with methyldopa were synthesized via the reflux of reaction mixture using a basic medium to deprotonate the ligands. These new complexes of Mn(II),Fe(II),Co(II),Ni(II) and Cu(II) with a mixture of aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid), paracetamol and methyldopa have characterized using FTIR, UV-visible spectra, magnetic susceptibility, flame atomic absorption, C.H.N.S analysis and melting points measurements. The two mixed ligands have been found to act as bidentate chelating agents. Aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) complexes coordinate to the metal ions through the oxygen of Aspirin's ester group and oxygen of the carboxyl group, while Methyldopa as ligand is coordinated through the oxygen of the carboxyl group and the nitrogen of the amide groups. The Paracetamol was coordinated through the oxygen atom of carboxyl group and the nitrogen atom of the amide group. The stability of these new complexes depends on the size of the chelate rings, thus these ligands with a flexible organic backbone and their complexes contain five and six membered chelate rings, which have almost no strain. The molar conductance measurements for the metal complexes show non-electrolytic behavior in DMF solvent." The all-synthesized complexes which show non-electrolytic properties, also were no conducting electrical current behaved as bi-dentate with octahedral geometrical isomers. ©2021 National Information and Documentation Center (NIDOC)

Ethylene glycol (EG)is a colorless, odorless, sweet-tasting chemical mainly used as antifreeze which is fatal if ingested. Annonais used as spices and as an herbal medicine (antioxidant) in America countries. Aim of the research was to evaluate the protective role of annonaceae against the Ethylene glycol as toxicity in rabbits. Twenty fiverabbits were divided into five groups: (GI,control group) 5rabbitsuntreated with Ethylene glycol and(GII) 5rabbits were give 0.75 % Ethylene glycol in drinking water onlyfor 30 days, while (GIII, GIV and GV)15 rabbits were give 0.75 % Ethylene glycol in drinking water and oral supplementation of Annona (flavonoids, glycosides and alkaloids) extracts(100mg /kg Bw) two times daily for 30 days.Blood samples were collected (plain tube & EDTA tube) to clinicalexamination. EG induced significant reduction (20%) in rabbits BW in G II in comparison with GI, GIII, GIV and GV.The result show, AST, ALT, ALKP, TBIL, MDA, SOD,urea, creatinine, globulin andmonocytesin G II were significantly elevated (P=0.05); meanwhile there were significant decrease (P=0.05) in total protein, albumin, A/G ratio, Gpx, CAT, GSH, BP, Hb ,WBC and RBC. But after treatment by extracts of Annonasignificant reduction inAST, ALKP, TBIL, MDA,urea, creatinineandmonocytes, while SOD,ALTno significant decrease. Meanwhile there were significant increase (P=0.05) in total protein, A/G ratio, Gpx, GSH, BP, Hb, WBC and RBC.

Transition metal complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with the tetradentate ligands [L1= 1,2-bis- (benzothiazol-2-thio)ethane,L2=1,2-bis-(benzoxazole-2-thio)ethane,L3=2,6-bis-(benzothiazole-2- io) pyridine],derived from the condensation of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole or 2-mercaptobenzoxazole and 1,2-dibromoethane or 2,6- dichloropyridine were synthesized. Characterization has been done on the basis of analytical conductance, magnetic data, infrared, electronic spectra for the ligands and X-Ray diffraction for L2. From analytical data the stoichiometry of the complexes has been found to be (1:1) (metal: ligand). IR spectra data suggest that the ligands behave as bidentate with S,S donor sequence toward the metal ions. On the basis of the above spectral, physicochemal, data as well as magnetic moment measurements tetrahedral geometries were assigned for the complexes.

Three novel organic salts two of them based on 2-mercaptobenzothiazolium ion and the third based on 2-mercaptobenzoxazolium ion were synthesized by improved method. These organic salts were characterized by IR, conductivity and electronic spectra. New ionic salts bis (N-methyl benzothiazolium-2-thio) alkane (alkane=ethane (E) or pyridine (P) diiodo dichloro metalate and bis (N-methyl benzoxazolium-2-thio) ethane(E) diiododichlorometalate having the formula [NMBtE][MCl 2 I 2 ], [NMBtP][MCl 2 I 2 ] and [NMBoE][MCl 2 I 2 ] (M= Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) were obtained from the reaction of respective ionic liquid with metal chloride in 1:1 molar ratio. The prepared ionic salts were characterized using above method as well as magnetic measurement, metal content analysis. The conductance data indicate that the ionic salts are 1:1 electrolyte, while the electronic spectra and magnetic measurement indicate that the anions [MCl 2 I 2 ] have a tetrahedral environment around the metal ions.
